Sunday, December 3rd, the 1st Sunday of Advent.
We will rejoice in our great gift in Jesus Christ on the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. To help us celebrate, we light the candles of the Advent wreath to signify that Jesus is the Light of the World.
The evergreens remind us that He is life and brings life to us.
All these are arranged in a circle because life in Christ has no end.
On this first Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of hope.
Hope is our assurance that God will finish all He has started.
Hope is our confidence that He will do all He has promised.
All the promises of God are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
He is our hope, today and forever.”
Loving God, as we enter this Advent season, we open all the dark places in our lives and memories to the healing light of Christ.
Show us the creative power of hope. Prepare our hearts to be transformed by you, that we may walk in the light of Christ and spread light to all nations. Amen.
