In the Book of Acts, the story is told:

“When the day of Pentecost was fully coming, they all had one accord in one place. And suddenly, there came a sound from heaven like a rushing mighty wind, filling all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. When this was noised abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded because every man heard them speak in his own language.”

On the Day of Pentecost, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit descending in a mighty rush of wind and flame to inspire the church’s proclamation of Christ’s rising and to empower its mission and ministry to the world.

Our tradition at LPC is for congregation members to wear RED on the Day of Pentecost. We wear RED to remind us of the fire of the Spirit. All are welcome here
