A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but “must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.”
Difficult people have been around forever. Even Moses remained steadfast to his last days and made sure God had another leader in place to take over. He didn’t want his wandering sheep to be without a shepherd. Moses never stopped loving them, even at their worst.
On the cross, Jesus resisted the desire to hurl an insult or to simply refuse to forgive them. He chose to pray, which was the Father’s will.
Difficult love. We must ask God for grace not to run away, but to keep engaging in love with that hard-to-love person.
Tracy McGlothlin leads our worship service on Sunday, July 13th, at 11:00am with her message, “Difficult Love.” All are welcome here.
