Today, we celebrate Ascension Day, the moment Christ ascended into heaven and commissioned us to continue His work in the world.
In the Presbyterian Church, we remember that the Ascension is not about Jesus leaving us behind, but about Christ reigning with love, justice, and peace over all creation. As Jesus promised in Acts 1:8, we are called to be witnesses “to the ends of the earth,” empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve our neighbors with compassion and hope.
May this holy day remind us that Christ is still present among us, guiding, comforting, and calling the Church into faithful ministry.
“Why do you stand looking up toward heaven?” (Acts 1:11)
The work of love continues here and now.
